Founded in June 2018 and based on the merger of the original Engineering Department and Information Department, the School of Technology now offers five full-time undergraduate programs, including civil engineering, engineering management, engineering cost, information management and information system, and e-commerce, establishing a relatively complete training system for undergraduates majoring in civil engineering and computer information. It currently has 2,623 enrolled undergraduates.
The School boasts a strong faculty. The full-time faculty is comprised of 8 professors, 24 associate professors (including senior engineers) and 26 lecturers (including engineers). Among the faculty, 7 are with doctor’s degree, and 43 with master’s degree. There is 1 doctoral tutor, and 7 master tutors. 1 was included in the talent pool for the “Millions of Talents Project” in Fujian Province, and 1 was awarded “Outstanding Young and Middle-Aged Backbone Teachers in Colleges and Universities of Fujian Province”. Besides, 33 teachers are “double-qualified” teachers with at least three years of working experience in enterprises. In recent years, 6 teachers have been selected into the Domestic Visiting Scholars Program; 3 teachers have been selected into the “Fujian University Outstanding Young Scientific Research Talents Funding Program”; 1 teacher has been selected into the “Fujian Funding Program for Outstanding University Academic (professional) Pace-setters to Study Abroad”. Teachers Yao Jie and Li Yun won the third prize in the Teaching Skills Competition of Colleges and Universities in Fujian Province, and Xie Renqiang won the third prize in Fujian province and the first prize in Fuzhou for his excellent paper in natural science.
The teachers of the School have been actively involved in the teaching reform and scientific research. In recent years, the teachers have presided 3 industry-university collaborative education projects of the Ministry of Education, 5 provincial educational reform projects, 28 university-level educational reform projects, and 6 university-level online open premium courses. The teachers have also published more than 10 textbooks in national publishing houses and more than 150 academic papers in various academic journals.
The School has three provincial-level teaching platforms, namely the “Experimental Teaching Platform for College Students’ Computer Application and Modern Office Equipment Application Training”, “Construction Engineering Interdisciplinary Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center” and “Construction Engineering BIM+VR Virtual Simulation Experiment Center”. Meanwhile, it has built 27 laboratories, including geotechnical laboratory, building materials laboratory, mechanics laboratory, BIM laboratory, VR laboratory, computer network and information security laboratory, and enterprise information laboratory, with a total area of 5,878 m2, providing a strong foundation for practical teaching.
The School attaches great importance to the cultivation of students’ innovation ability, practical ability, team spirit and comprehensive quality. Since 2013, 132 students (in person-time) have participated in national and regional competitions, winning 25 national awards and 44 provincial awards. The School has trained more than 1,500 graduates. With graduates’ first employment rate exceeding 98% for two consecutive years, the School enjoys a reputation of high employment rate and good employment quality.
